Hancock County’s narcotics, K-9 and patrol divisions teamed up over the holiday weekend with several other agencies on an operation that resulted in taking more than 250 pounds of meth off the streets.

The Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that they teamed up with the DEA, Hattiesburg, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Waveland and Bay St. Louis law enforcement agencies on a surveillance and traffic-stop operation over the holiday weekend as part of an investigation into interstate drug trafficking.

As a result, three people were arrested and 262 pounds of methamphetamine destined for distribution on the Mississippi Coast were seized.

The meth had a street value of $2.2 million and is believed to be the largest drug bust in the county’s history.
