Hancock County Leadership Holiday Event
City leaders from Hancock County gathered today at the Hancock County Human Resource Agency to host their annual leadership holiday event.
To get city leaders in the Christmas spirit and also thank them for all their hard work in the community, the Hancock County Human Resource Agency hosted their Christmas leadership door decorating contest.
At least six judges went door to door checking their list twice to see who had the best classroom door decorations at the Hancock County Child Development Center. Hancock County Human Resource Agency Executive Director Lora Mederos said, “It’s extremely important for our staff to show appreciation to our community leaders because they do so much to help us. They fund us and help us match our federal grants.”
The child development center was established in 1977 as a way to help low-income families with childcare. Hancock County Board of Supervisors President Scotty Adam said, “This is a great opportunity for them to help out and provide a wonderful service for Hancock County.”
Local leaders were able to tour the facility and also get a sneak peek into the everyday workings of the development center. “It gives them an opportunity to see our children, to see our facility, to thank our teachers for the great works that they do and for our teachers to thank them also.”
Hancock County Child Development is one of five licensed child care facilities and Adam says the center provides kids with lifelong skills. “All the child programs that they have. It’s just the development of the kids at an early age and helping develop the kids and prepare them as they get older.”
