Hancock County deputy cleared in September shooting

A Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the September 2020 shooting of Raymond Keith Miller.

A partial grand jury report was filed on July 8 and released today.

It said in the report that “after full and deliberate consideration of all the facts and circumstances leading up to the September, 13, 2020, shooting of Raymond Keith Miller, and the circumstances as they existed at the time of the shooting, the Grand Jury finds no criminal conduct on behalf of the deputy involved from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.”

The deputy’s name was not released.
