Halloween safety tips
In order to have a spooky-safe Halloween, here are some safety tips to follow according to the Harrison County Fire Service.
Costumes are key to getting a bunch of candy, however, stay away from long trailing fabric that can catch fire if they come into contact with open flames.
On this thriller night, please provide the little ones with flashlights or glow sticks so they are visible at night. Slow down and watch for children while driving on Halloween night.
Across the United States, an estimated average of 900 fires occur on Halloween. Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said, “Several times we have had deaths involved and injuries in those fires. So, it’s not something that we have every Halloween, but it’s something we worry about every Halloween because we don’t want any of our holidays to be a tragedy.”
