Gun Discharge at Trapani’s Eatery in Bay St. Louis

An accidental gun discharge at Trapani’s Eatery in Bay St. Louis leads to the arrest of an employee.
Bay St. Louis Police Department was notified of a possible gun discharge on North Beach Boulevard. Surveillance video from Trapani’s led officers to question an employee of the restaurant.
Joseph Smith admitted to possessing the weapon and says it fell from his pocket while sitting in front of the restaurant. The gun discharged when it struck the ground, leading to Smith tossing the weapon. It was later found near the back of the restaurant.
No one was injured.
Smith is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
