Gulfport teenager dies after Monday morning shooting

The 16-year-old who was shot in Gulfport on Monday morning has died, according to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Terrance Young Jr. He was a student at Gulfport High School.

On Monday morning, officers responded to the shooting around 12:04 a.m. near Indiana Avenue and Jackson Street.  When they arrived, they found Young in the vehicle.

According to the coroner, Young was taken to Memorial Hospital and then transferred to USA Hospital in Mobile where he was taken off life support on Tuesday.

An autopsy is pending.

The shooting is still under investigation.
