Gulfport students win Hurricane Bowl
Five Gulfport High students are preparing to test their ocean science skills against teams from across the country following a big win.
The students competed in and won last Saturday’s Hurricane Bowl against other teams from the region at USM’s Marine Education Laboratory in Ocean Springs.
Topics at the bowl ranged from marine geology to marine physics and featured multiple choice and team challenge formats.
Now, the students are hard at work preparing to face 22 other regional winners from around the country for the national Ocean Sciences Bowl. Team Captain Ceana Palacio said, “We’ve known each other for years now. So, it’s kind of like we’ve all grown up and we all really mesh well together and we have a really good team chemistry.”
The finals will take place from April 16th to 19th right here on the Coast in Long Beach.
