Gulfport School District preparing to return to class

Schools in the Gulfport School District are preparing to head back to class this week.

Parents, teachers, and students were at Gulfport High School this morning, taking care of business before school starts.

The school district will be heading into their second year of the flexible schedule program. With the flex schedule, it allows students multiple breaks with four 45-day terms and two week breaks in between. Students also get a three-week break for Christmas.

Teachers are excited to get back in the swing of things. Gulfport High teacher Jeremy Necaise said, “Wanted to come in today and just get started, get situated, start getting the classroom organized the way that I wanted. Excited about the school year. To me, preparation is so important in any profession, but in teaching and education it is essential.”

Sixth and ninth graders will head back to school on Thursday and the rest of the students will head back on Friday.
