Gulfport recognizes its outgoing city council members and Mayor Billy Hewes

Gulfport, Miss. (WXXV) – The Gulfport City Council recognized its outgoing members, as well as retiring Mayor Billy Hewes.

This comes ahead of the new city terms, beginning on July 1st.

Hewes has served as Gulfport’s mayor since 2013, announcing last year he would not be running for office again.

Members of the city council thanked him for his dedication to Mississippi’s second-largest city over the past 12 years, with many highlighting the legacy he’ll leave behind.

Looking back, Mayor Hewes tells us he appreciates his time in office and has faith for the future of Gulfport.

City Council Members R. Lee Flowers, Truck Casey and Richard Kosloski were also honored alongside Mayor Hewes, as they will not be returning to their seats on the council for the next term.
