Gulfport Police arrest suspect in Christmas night shooting

Gulfport Police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that happened Wednesday night.

Police said officers responded about 4:51 p.m. to 44th Avenue and 13th Street about a reported shooting. There, they found a minor suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is listed as stable.

An investigation revealed that the suspect, 40-year-old Joshua Wells, arrived at the residence and got into an argument that escalated into a fight. Wells then produced a weapon and fired it, striking the minor.

Wells fled in a 2017 black Chevy Impala with the license plate BOSLDY5. He was arrested Thursday and charged wtih aggravated assault.
