Gulfport Police searching for driver, vehicle in hit-and-run that injured 13-year-old girl

Gulfport Police are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that sent a 13-year-old girl to the hospital.

On Saturday about 9 p.m., officers responded to Dedeaux Road in reference to a hit and run involving a pedestrian. On scene, they found a female victim in the roadway. She was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in serious condition.

Family members identified the child as Teshawna Taylor on social media. Family members also said on social media that Teshawna was transferred from South Alabama to a hospital in New Orleans, where she is in a medically induced coma.

Officers spoke to witnesses who saw a blue sedan traveling eastbound in the left lane that struck the victim and continued traveling eastbound.
