Gulfport Police Patrol on Black Friday
The Thanksgiving holiday means increased traffic from travelers visiting family members and crowds of shoppers camping out for Black Friday deals.
With all the increased activity going on this weekend, the Gulfport Police Department has upped its patrol across the entire city. Over 35 officers will be on duty in and around Gulfport’s shopping corridor which is the area on Highway 49 that runs from Dedeaux Road to the Premium Outlet Mall.
Officers will be on the roads enforcing traffic, as well as undercover watching for shoplifters and disturbances during the Black Friday shopping rush. Sergeant Joshua Bromen with Gulfport PD said, “First and foremost, like I said, patience is key, anytime you can plan ahead, relax, and enjoy this time. Everybody is trying to get from point A to point B. There’s plenty of deals out here, just be patient. Don’t drive distracted. Just leave plenty of time for your destination.”
This increased patrol will continue throughout the holiday weekend.
