Gulfport Police launch homicide investigation after man found dead inside burned vehicle early Sunday

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — A homicide investigation is now underway after a man was found dead inside of a burned vehicle early Sunday morning.

The Gulfport Police Department says a vehicle was reported on fire in the 13000 block of Three Rivers Road at around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, April 18.

Officers responded and found a male victim inside the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

An autopsy was conducted and determined the incident would be investigated as a homicide.

The victim has been identified, but his name is being withheld pending proper family notification by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.
