Gulfport Police investigating third shooting in 24 hours
Gulfport Police are investigating a shooting at Emerald Pines Apartments that happened overnight — the third shooting in 24 hours.
Police posted on social media just before midnight that there was a shooting in the 3300 block of 39th Avenue — where Emerald Pines Apartments are located.
Earlier in the evening, officers responded to a shooting about 5:30 p.m. in the 13000 block of Dedeaux Road. Police said no one was injured, but several vehicles and a residence were hit by gunfire.
Several suspects were taken into custody in that case.
The first shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Darby Street. A 16-year-old, identified as Christopher Brown of Gulfport, was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He died as a result of his injuries.
