Gulfport Police investigating shootings in Gaston Point
One man is dead and two others injured in separate shootings overnight in Gulfport.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said 20-year-old Ladarion Hamilton died of a single gunshot wound after being taken to Memorial Hospital.
Police were called to the 14000 block of Jo Ellen Circle about 11:50 p.m. about a report of gunshots being fired at a party. Officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers at the scene were told there was a birthday party with about 30 people there. During the party, multiple firearms were fired and two victims were struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A residence was also hit by the gunfire.
While on scene, officers heard gunshots from nearby. When they responded to that scene in the 1600 block of Rich Avenue, they found Hamilton on the side of the road.
Switzer said an autopsy on Hamilton will be performed on Monday.
The incidents mark four shootings that happened Thursday — an accidental shooting and a drive-by near Dedeaux Road in Orange Grove earlier in the day and the two in Gaston Point last night.
Anyone with any information regarding the shootings is asked to call Gulfport Police at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
