Gulfport Police Department Holding Public Meetings
The Gulfport Police Department is building for the future and they want your input.
Starting tomorrow night, the Gulfport Police Department will be holding a series of community meetings seeking public opinion.
Gulfport PD is trying to construct a strategic plan or guide for how they will provide public safety over the next five years. While building that plan, they want to hear from residents on their experiences with their department.
Residents will also hear a State of the Union-type summary on the department. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said, “The word transparency comes to mind. We really want them to know this police department. Not just where we are, but where we’re trying to take it and the level of service we’re trying to provide. Also, they’ll have the opportunity to fill out surveys and give commentary on not just what their expectations are, but what has their experience been with our police department.”
The meeting will be tomorrow night from 6 until 7:30 at the Handsboro Community Center. On September 8th at the same time, the meeting will be at the Orange Grove Community Center. The last meeting will be at the West Side Community Center on September 15th.
