Gulfport PD arrest man on murder charge in early morning shooting
On May 8, 2024, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 32-year-old Antwon Duane Williams and charged him with one count of 1st degree murder.
On May 6, 2024, at approximately 1:21 a.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 9100 block of Highway 49 in reference to a shooting.
As officers arrived on the scene, they located Charles Martell Oatis lying on the ground, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the two subjects got into a verbal argument, when Williams brandished a firearm, and fatally shot Oatis.
Williams was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held on his $1,000,000 bond, set by Judge Patano.
