Gulfport officers cleared in fatal 2020 shooting

After a grand jury investigation, all Gulfport officers involved in a fatal November 2020 shooting have been cleared.

On November 12th, 2020, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation responded to an officer-involved shooting near the intersection of 25th Avenue and Pass Road in Gulfport.

Responding to a disturbance call, officers with the Gulfport Police Department found Henry Leo Frankowski III, who was brandishing a weapon.

Frankowski suffered injuries from gunfire and he was later pronounced dead.

The Harrison County Court’s grand jury investigated the circumstances leading up to the shooting of Frankowski and after careful consideration found no criminal conduct on behalf of the officers involved from Gulfport Police Department.
