Gulfport officer sent to hospital following wreck

A Gulfport police officer has been sent to the hospital with serious injuries after a wreck that happened on Three Rivers Road and Creosote Road.
According to Gulfport police, around 6:30 the officer was responding to a report of a stolen vehicle. The officer found the vehicle, a Coast commuter van, and attempted to stop it and the stolen vehicle struck the police cruiser, leaving the officer with serious injuries.
He has been transported to an area hospital and the driver of the stolen vehicle was then taken into custody.
