Gulfport native recognized in Time Magazine
A Gulfport native is using his formal education from the University of Mississippi to cultivate change in his community.
Bobby Hudson III, a public policy leadership major, is featured in Time Magazine as one of its ’30 in 2030: A Generation Creating Change.’
Time reached out to 30 college students to document what they were doing to effect change in their communities during the pandemic.
Hudson established the ‘North Gulfport Advocacy Coalition,’ a grassroots organization dedicated to educating the public about politics, social advocacy, and voter awareness. “As a result of COVID-19, I was able to really emerge into my community and create programs and create resources for individuals in my community that’s needed. So, it gave me the time and the patience that I actually needed to look at these issues that are being faced whether it’s in Gulfport or here at the university and how we can create innovative services to address those issues.”
Hudson tells News 25 he feels it is his responsibility to return back to his local community after college to help offer services and opportunities to better where he came from.
