Gulfport Mayor’s Business Address

This morning, Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes spoke to a full room at the Island View Casino to give his annual business address.

The mayor dressed in his best overalls and construction hat to tackle the topic of infrastructure going on throughout the city.

According to Mayor Hewes, the finish date for the construction project on Courthouse Road has come and gone yet work is still being done on the popular street, but he says the area should be finished soon.

The mayor also announced a new project that residents will see going on in downtown Gulfport called the Back Lot.  “We continue to re-evaluate our brand, how we are doing, where we can invigorate some life into some areas. So, Pop Brothers and Coast Roast have really made some funky stuff happen, but we own some property back there. We think it’s right for a new type of development that could be a social center.”
