Gulfport Mayor Visits with Elderly

As the holiday season approaches, most people feel a sense of cheer and excitement creep in. For residents at nursing homes, the holidays have potential to be one of the most depressing times of the year.
Today Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes spent his afternoon mingling and putting smiles on the faces of residents at Boyington Health Care facility.
Boyington resident Billy Sabbatini just recently moved to the Coast and says the mayor’s pop-up visit was a pleasant surprise. “I think it is great myself. Most of them haven’t got time to do this and haven’t got time to do that. It was great. Nice meeting him. Seems like a straight guy.”
Mayor Hewes makes it a point to visit with the residents multiple times a year.
