Gulfport man wanted for aggravated assault

On Sunday, the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Halsel Street regarding a shooting complaint.

During the investigation, witnesses reported that Avante Jaquan Kirk arrived at the Gulfport residence and engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated into Kirk brandishing a firearm, discharging it, and striking a resident.

He then fled the scene in a white 2020 Ford Escape with a Mississippi license plate: JCA-777.

Kirk is wanted for one count of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into a dwelling.

He is described as a 23-year-old black male, approximately 5’9” tall, weighing 135 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
