Gulfport man sentenced to 30 years

A Gulfport man has pled guilty to an armed robbery that occurred almost three years ago.
Twenty-nine year-old Ian Sims was sentenced to 30 years in prison today after walking into a Walgreens Pharmacy on Pass Road in Gulfport wearing a disguise and using a note to demand prescription medications.
After showing the store clerk that he had a gun, an employee retrieved the prescriptions from the pharmacy and Sims walked out of the Walgreens before being met outside by a Gulfport police officer who took him into custody.
Sims will not be eligible for parole or early release. Upon his release he will be placed on five years of probation.
