Madison officers tried to stop a Nissan Altima about 6:30 p.m. Thursday that was reported stolen in Hattiesburg. Instead of stopping, the driver took off and hit three vehicles before continuing to try to elude police. The driver of the Altima, identified as Motley, lost control and struck a bridge before fleeing on foot.
He entered a subdivision and was seen armed with a handgun. He was taken into custody near a residence without incident. After the arrest, offices recovered three firearms and a large quantity of marijuana. Motley was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and citizens involved in the previous accidents were treated at the scene.
Motley was taken to the Madison County jail pending his initial court appearance.
