Gulfport man arrested on charge of simple assault

The Biloxi Police Department arrested 52-year-old Eric Hardy of Gulfport on a charge of simple assault on a police officer.

Officers responded to a report of an alleged shoplifting and attempted to arrest Hardy.

During the course of the arrest, Hardy allegedly assaulted a Biloxi police officer while attempting to flee.

The alleged assault occurred when the officer’s ankle and foot were caught under Hardy’s vehicle as he fled the scene.

Hardy was charged with simple assault and was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and is held on a $50,000 bond.
