Gulfport Little Theatre one step closer to reopening

Gulfport Little Theatre is making progress toward reopening.

During this week’s city hall meeting, city council approved zoning so the theatre can rezone and officially remortgage the building.

It’s taken a year for correct paperwork to be filed so the theatre can move forward hosting plays again.

Little Theatre is looking for the communities help with a new air conditioning unit, roofing, and electrical work. Little Theatre Board of Directors Member Michael Petro said, “I was ecstatic. We’re going to jump and down. Santa Claus has finally come and all the questions are answered and we don’t have to wait the 30 days. If we could get a roofing company that would donate a roof, just a flat roof, we’re not that big, some air conditioning people that would help, it would take very little money for us to get up and operating.”

With tears in his eyes, Petro tells News 25 he would love to put on a Christmas show for the kids and have the theatre up and running for a Charlie Brown Christmas.
