Gulfport linebacker cuts recruitment list to three

Gulfport linebacker Derick Hall says he puts his phone on airplane mode on his way to the field house so he can disconnect from a recruitment process that includes 18 division I offers.

Back in March, the senior narrowed his focus to eight schools and now he’s cut that down to three. Topping that list is Auburn University with Mississippi State and Florida not far behind.

On Saturday, Hall was in Starkville to watch MSU and the Gators play head-to-head for Bulldog Bash Weekend, having already made a trip to Auburn for the September 14th LSU game.

All the while, his Gulfport Admirals are rock solid at 5-1 and the four star recruit is making the hardest decision of his life look easy, thanks to a scouting report of his own.  “I have a wall in my room that I ask questions on a visit, I come back and fill them in. And it’s just a timetable and stuff like that that I look at that makes the difference. Some places may think it’s best for me, but me and my family may not think it’s best for me so I just do the little things to find out the pros and cons to a school. It’s definitely hard because you want to go everywhere but you can’t. You’ve got to make the best decision for you and your future, and it’s definitely hard, it’s frustrating, it’s hectic. But it’s a blessing, God has given me these opportunities to lead me the right way.”

Hall says his top three list doesn’t eliminate other schools from still being in the running.
