Gulfport hosts mayoral candidate forum ahead of June election

Gulfport, Miss. (WXXV)- We’re now just weeks away from the June 3rd general election for municipal races in South Mississippi. That includes the hotly-contested race for Gulfport mayor.

Ahead of the polls opening up, GoGulfport hosted a mayoral forum Thursday night and the big topic focused on city development.

At the event, different companies showcased several project coming to the Gulfport area and presented the projects to the candidates: Hugh Keating and Sonya Williams Barnes.

We caught up with the candidates at the forum, both of them stressing that voters get out on election day and use their right to vote.
