Gulfport High tennis team hosting matches on new court

It’s a big day for Gulfport tennis players and fans.

After practicing at their brand new tennis facility for five months, the Gulfport High School tennis team finally gets to host their first matches ever on their new courts.

These tennis courts have been a vision for years, but thanks to tennis parents and the Gulfport School Board, the vision became a reality.

The facility includes seven new courts and two new locker rooms on the high school’s campus.

Ole Miss tennis alum and Gulfport Head Tennis Coach Michael Walker is thrilled about the newest addition and hopes it will generate a lot of buzz amongst the Gulfport community. “I remember the first time that we took the locks off and opened the gate and allowed them to come in and practice. It was like the first time they’ve ever stepped out on a tennis court. I mean, it’s really ,really great and it’s really convenient for us as well to be able to start practice sooner and for them to have a place.”

The Admirals opened up their gates for the first time today against St. Patrick.
