Gulfport High Students See How McDonald’s Runs
Students who are part of the culinary arts portion of the Academic Institute visited the McDonald’s Descher Organization corporate facility to learn the ins and outs of the fast food business. They learned what it takes to open up a franchise, the cost involved, and learned a little bit about what makes McDonald’s so successful.
Anita Huey, a culinary instructor a Gulfport High, says, “Most of the students are only familiar with fast food from the customer vantage point, but this is really important for them to see how the technology and how complicated it is to own and operate a stand-alone restaurant.”
This was the first time the Descher Organization provided an in depth learning experience to local students, and Gulfport High hopes the trip may have inspired some future franchise owners.
