Gulfport High students get safety lesson at Prom Promise event
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Gulfport High School students received a powerful lesson in safety Thursday, just head of prom season.
The school hosted its annual ‘Prom Promise’ event designed to show the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving.
Lights flashing and sirens sound, it may have looked like an emergency at Gulfport High Thursday morning, but this was all part of a planned simulation.
Students gathered at the band practice field as police, fire, and EMS crews responded to a staged crash scene.
The simulation was coordinated through Gulfport High’s Law and Public Safety Career and Technical Education Program with support from local first responders and community partners.
Together, they walked students through a realistic scenario highlighting not just the crash, but the emotional and legal consequences that follow.
