Gulfport High senior accepted into Yale University on full scholarship

A Gulfport High senior is taking his academic talents to Yale.

Nico Ramirez was recently accepted to Yale University on a full scholarship. Ramirez scored a perfect 36 on his ACT and will finish high school with a 4.27 GPA.

Nico also garnered several prestigious accolades as a National Merit finalist.

As graduation nears, Nico is now reflecting on his high school days and what he plans to do next at Yale. “It’s a testament to, you know, I was able to do well in school and I work, tried to work hard to take that as far as it could go. I’m super proud to be able to say that I’m going to Yale. I’m going to major in mechanical engineering and then I’m hoping to get my MBA afterwards. A little bit nervous, but probably excitement takes over. I’m not going to lie. It’s just such an awesome opportunity. I’m truly blessed to have it.”

Ramirez was honored as Gulfport High’s top student athlete this year.  He’s been a member of the soccer team and also runs track.
