Gulfport high school welcomes Justin Edwards as new baseball head coach
After a six year head coaching career at Vancleave high school, that was capped off with a 5A state championship last month, baseball coach Justin Edwards returns to his first coaching stop at Gulfport high school.
Before he was coaching the Bulldogs at Vancleave, Edwards was a six year assistant coach for the Admirals. During his introductory press conference Edwards spoke on how this opportunity came to be and why he jumped at the chance to return.
“You know to be able to come back to your hometown and, as I look on my chest and I look around the room I see the G, there is nothing that I take more pride in than that G,” he said. “To be able to lead this baseball program and take it from where coach Mack has brought it to, continue excellent baseball, and take it to the next level and bring that state championship back here is something that I am going to take pride in, and I am super excited about”
Edwards says he is ready to get started with the Admirals and is already looking forward to what this off-season, and next season, has to offer.
