Gulfport High School announces new principal Dr. Rachel Gibson.

For the past 18 years, Dr. Rachel Gibson has served as an educator in multiple capacities including middle school teacher, college instructor, interventionist, instructional coach, and administrator.

Gulfport School District did not say where current principal Wendi Husley was going or when Gibson would assume her duties at the high school.

Recently, she was the Principal of Anniston Avenue Elementary, an A-Rated school in the Gulfport School District.  Dr. Gibson earned a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State University, a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from William Carey University, an Educational Specialist and Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from William Carey University.

Dr. Gibson and her husband, Jason, have three children: Reece (13), Jace (16), and Taylor (19).  She feels honored to have served at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as the Dean of Teaching and Learning at the Perkinston Campus— but is ecstatic to return home to the Gulfport School District as the Principal of Gulfport High School.
