Gulfport High Choir Wins Big in State Competition

The Gulfport High Choral Department dominated the competition during the Riverland Choral Festival in Pearl on November 7th. The Gulfport High Festival Singers won Best in Class and were crowned Grand Champions, scoring higher than 40 other competing choirs. The Madrigal Singers also scored highly at the festival, earning straight superiors, but were edged out by Terry High School’s men’s quartet in the Specialty Choir competition.

The Gulfport High Singers regularly place amongst the best at district, state, regional, national, and international festivals. They are led by David M. Chavers, Choral Coordinator, and Ms. Alana Rutledge, Assistant Choral Director. Jacqueline Coale and Stella Rose are Associate Directors.
