Gulfport grieves tragic loss of beloved Deacon Eddie Shed

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) – Deacon Eddie Shed was a cherished member of The Empowerment Ministries Christian Center, where he is remembered as a pillar of strength in the community and a beacon of light. He embodied the spirit of service, dedicating his life to uplifting others and serving his community.

On Sunday, April 13, Deacon Eddie Shed tragically lost his life to senseless gun violence while courageously trying to de-escalate a dispute that broke out during an Easter celebration. The Gulfport community has faced a series of heartbreaking losses, beginning on the very first day of the new year. Councilman Flowers says their community remains incredibly resilient.

Eddie Shed spent his final days protecting his community, a selfless act that ended in tragedy. Funeral services and visitation will be held this Saturday, April 19.
