Gulfport first responders compete in Blizzard Battle to benefit Manning Family Children’s Hospital
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A friendly competition between Gulfport first responders took place at the city’s Dairy Queen Thursday afternoon.
This marks the fifth year of the Justin Herring Memorial Blizzard Battle between Gulfport police and Gulfport fire. Officers and firefighters battled to see who can eat a blizzard the fastest, with their colleagues and a Miracle Child in attendance.
Proceeds from blizzards sold this afternoon will go to benefit the Manning Family Children’s Hospital in New Orleans as part of the National Miracle Treat Day initiative.
The Gulfport Fire Team took home this year’s Blizzard Battle, but both sides say they enjoy this friendly rivalry each year for a good cause.
