Gulfport firefighters battle blaze in vacant house

Gulfport firefighters were called out to a house fire just before 6 p.m. Monday.

Chief Billy Kelley said the call came in at 5:51 p.m. and the first units arrived at 2506 Madison Street minutes later.

The house was fully involved, but was brought under control within about 30 minutes, Kelley said.

No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire, Kelley said.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
