Gulfport Fire Department receives 2026 Municipal Excellence Award

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Gulfport Fire Department received the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award.

The honor coming from the state Municipal League. This award recognizes the department’s partnership with the city’s high school.

Firefighters help prepare the next generation through hands-on training in firefighting, emergency response, teamwork, and public safety.

The program inspires students while building stronger connections between the youth and first responders.
