Gulfport Fire Department begins wrapping up Hurricane Ida recovery drive

The Gulfport Fire Department is wrapping up its One Coast, One Recovery supply drive this week for southeastern Louisiana.

The supply drive began collecting items in September to help Hurricane Ida victims recover from the storm.

The department recently added school supplies to the supply list to give to kids in LaFourche Parish getting ready to go back to school.

You can drop off supplies at any of the Gulfport Fire Departments until this coming Friday. School supplies needed include notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, and more. Gulfport Communications Manager Jase Payne said, “Oh it’s very important. You know, they were there for us during Katrina and other storms, and so this is really that one coast effort to make sure our neighbors in Louisiana are taken care of because you never know when we’re gonna need it again, and so we wanna make sure to extend that to our neighbors in Louisiana.”

The city will collect all the supplies gathered at the stations and bring them to Louisiana next week.
