Gulfport Ends St. Martin’s Undefeated Run With 42-14 Win

One of the most talked about games for Week Seven was the undefeated St. Martin Yellow Jackets hosting the reigning State Champions of Gulfport High school.

The Admirals controlled the game from the start, carrying a 28-0 lead into the fourth quarter. Gulfport wasted little time adding to its advantage. Quarterback Jackson Wolverton handed the ball to JoJo Thomas, who powered his way into the end zone for another Admirals touchdown to make it 35-0.

St. Martin struggled to find an answer as quarterback Dawsen Sullivan tried to extend plays with his legs. However, Jysavian Causey brought him down for a big sack. The Admirals’ defense continued to apply pressure, forcing a fumble on another St. Martin possession. Senior outside linebacker Victor Labega recovered the loose ball and returned it for a touchdown, extending Gulfport’s lead to 42-0.

Despite the deficit, the Yellow Jackets continued to fight. Sullivan connected with Charles Summers for a big first down to keep the drive alive. With just six seconds remaining before halftime, St. Martin finally broke through. Sullivan found an opening and connected with Dawsey Sullivan for a touchdown, putting the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard.

St. Martin added another touchdown before the game ended, but Gulfport’s commanding lead proved too much to overcome. The Admirals secured a 42-14 victory, snapping St. Martin’s winning streak and handing the Yellow Jackets their first loss of the season.
