Gulfport dedicates tennis courts in honor of legendary coach Erich Grabowski
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — It was a special Saturday morning at Gulfport High School, as the Blue and Orange community celebrated an Admirals tennis legend, Erich Grabowski.
A dedication ceremony was held to name the courts after Coach Grabowski, and the school also unveiled a marker in his honor.
Grabowski was a coach and educator for 30 years, and he was a true difference-maker at Gulfport High School. From 1984-2001, Coach Grabowski led the Admiral tennis team to 17 consecutive district championships, two Big 8 State Championships, two MHSAA Class 5A State Championships, 20 individual state championships and an overall record of 213 wins and 42 losses.
Along with his stellar coaching career, Grabowski molded lives in the classroom, teaching several AP classes at Gulfport for 24 years.
