Gulfport City Council votes to ban parking on grass
Gulfport City Council has amended its international property maintenance code to include language that prohibits parking on grass.
Councilman R. Lee Flowers says when the council updated its latest IMPC, it did not amend the language to include the parking in residential districts.
The vote held Tuesday simply modified the ordinance to add the parking language back in.
The ordinance says that vehicles must be parked in a designated parking area or driveway. Parking on the street is still allowed where it is available and safe.
The ordinance, which takes effect 30 days after Tuesday’s vote, is enforceable by a $200 fine.
