Gulfport City Council Meeting

The Gulfport Sportsplex has another award to add to its collection and Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes recognizes Seabee Michael M. Steffey as the U.S. Navy Sailor of the Year.
These were just two of items topping the agenda at the Gulfport City Council meeting this afternoon.
A national honor was granted to the Gulfport Sportsplex which was the recipient of the Southeastern Region Award for Sports Facility of the Year by the United States Sports Specialty Association.
David D’Aquilla with the Department of Leisure Services said, “Just very proud, not only on behalf of the city of Gulfport but for our staff that work so diligently out there all the time, it’s just great for them to be acknowledged for the work that they do.”
D’Aquilla tells News 25 it’s an accomplishment for a 15-year-old sportsplex to be able to compete with all the new facilities.
