Gulfport Care Center hosts drive-by Mardi Gras parade for patients
The Mardi Gras parades may not be rolling this year, but that did not stop the patients at Gulfport Care Center from enjoying the good times.
To spread some positivity, the Singing River Auxiliary held a drive-thru Mardi Gras parade for 55 patients at the Gulfport Care Center.
Family, friends, and sponsors drove-by with decorated cars, delivering goodie bags and food.
Gulf Coast Care Center Administrator Charles Register tells News 25 he just wanted the patients to get out and have some fun. “We just wanted our residents to have a good time and put some smiles on their faces and really just enjoy the day. Mardi Gras is a big thing on the Coast and so we still want to give them a taste of Mardi Gras and what all it has to offer with the fun and music and all that kind of stuff.”
The facility is hoping to make this a yearly event.
