Gulfport – Biloxi International Airport offers a chance to ship prohibited items

Gulfport, Miss. (WXXV)- The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport offers travelers a way to keep from surrendering their items.

According to officials, items ranging from weapons to those bought on vacation may need to be surrendered as travelers go through the TSA line.

The airport on the coast offers a chance for visitors to ship those items without leaving the airport.

“So there is a station upstairs where we give passengers the opportunity to mail items back to themselves. There is a nominal fee, if I’m not mistake it is $10. You have the option to put that $10 in an envelope, your prohibited item in an envelope, and send that to any address you choose,” said TSA Officer Michael Kranz. “Just another way we make it possible for passengers to keep their items. We don’t want you to lose your items at the checkpoint, we don’t want them abandoned. We want you to keep your items, we also want to keep the traveling public safe.”

The area to ship items can be found on the second floor. The facility is located right outside the TSA scanning area.

This program is offered by the Gulfport Airport, not TSA.
