Gulfport Biloxi International Airport installs new art exhibit

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport recently installed a new art exhibit featuring original pieces by Louisiana native Mary Louise Porter.

Porter is a contemporary landscape artist who draws inspiration from common areas found in nature. She enjoys working with acrylic and other mediums to engage the viewer emotionally and visually, sometimes layering with mixed media and cut canvas.

Porter got her masters of fine arts through LSU and has taught in Louisiana online and in person. Her seven pieces will be displayed for six months. “It’s great exposure for me in Mississippi and everywhere else. It’s a beautiful, beautiful set up. It’s 25 feet. So, I have lots of painting here. They are mostly of the Gulf Coast. The areas around Ocean Springs, Biloxi, and Gulfport, a little of Louisiana and Arkansas. It’s very exciting for me.”

Mary Louise Porter’s work can be found on the second floor of the terminal building. She can be contacted by visiting mlporterfineart.com.
