Gulfport Athletic Director speaks at Rotary Club of Gulfport meeting
The Rotary Club of Gulfport was able to hear from the athletic director at Gulfport High School ahead of the fall.
AD Matt Walters revealed some of the innovative projects they’ll be trying in the athletic department to help get children involved and help Gulfport get to the top of the scoreboard.
They’re going to be working on a new media program that will highlight athletes, such as hype videos.
Plus, the school wants to work with athletes to show them how to be leaders and team players.
Walters tell us why Gulfport is investing in its student athletes off the field too. “Well, number 1, it lets them know that we care. We care about them more than just as athletes. We want to highlight the things they do, whether it’s on or off the field. But I think the number one thing that we’re doing as high school coaches and administrators is teaching our kids to be productive members of society.”
Gulfport’s first football game is 7:30 tomorrow at Milner Stadium.
