Gulfport Admirals head football coach stepping down

After five years as head coach of the Gulfport football team, John Archie is stepping down.

Today, the high school announced Archie has coached his last game, but will continue to serve the Admirals full time in the role of assistant principal.

In his final season as head man, he led Gulfport to an overall record of 9-3, but got bounced in the first round by Warren Central.

Outside of a COVID-plagued 2020 season, Archie guided the Admirals to a combined mark of 37-13 with two Region 4 Class 6A titles and their lone playoff win coming in 2019 against George County.

Gulfport’s search for its next head coach is already underway.
